Title: “An -omics perspective: the two sides of the moon”

Genomics is a very fascinating field, providing insights into mechanisms underlying various pathological conditions and biological phenomena. However, despite its revolutionary potential, this field is not without its challenges. The huge amount of data generated by sequencing technologies requires computational tools and analytical approaches to extract meaning from raw data. Additionally, the complexity of biological processes adds another layer of complexity to genomic result interpretation. Moreover, the integration of multi-omics data adds another layer of difficulty. Combining genomic, transcriptomic, epigenomic, and other types of data to gain a holistic overview of biological processes is a daunting task. Each type of data has its own unique challenges in terms of quality control, normalization, and batch effect correction. In this context, the multidisciplinary approach is a crucial resource, involving experts from diverse disciplines to address the challenges of genomics in an integrated manner. Several studies, mainly oriented to the medical and translational aspect, but also basic research projects, will be discussed, highlighting the main results but also the challenges behind the results.
